You may have already been following our efforts to advocate for a Safe Harbor law in CT. In short, Safe Harbor, S.B. 153, will protect any minor from being prosecuted for the crime of prostitution. Rather, the children would be referred to social services and treated as victims of commercial sexual exploitation. In turn, the bill strengthens penalties for traffickers/pimps as well as the customers/perpetrators.
Today, the CT State Senate unanimously passed the bill! We are on the brink of being the third state in the country to pass a Safe Harbor law. We have until May 5 to see it happen in this legislative session.
Please pray
- for favor for this bill in the House of Representatives and that it would also pass.
- that if passed, Governor Jodi Rell would sign it into law.
