Effective date: October 2019
Love146 operates the website www.love146.org. This is to inform you of our policies about the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information when you use our website. We use your personal information to help us communicate more effectively, and to improve our website. By using our website and consenting where required, you agree to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with this policy.
Info you can choose to provide on our site
Certain visitors to Love146’s website choose to interact with Love146 in ways that require us to gather personally identifying information, such as name, email address, physical address, phone number, location, and other details as needed. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, those who wish to receive email updates and newsletters are asked for email and physical addresses; those interested in our prevention curriculum are asked for information about the agency they work for; those who send e-cards are asked for information about the recipient of the e-card, and this information is used only to send the e-card. Those who engage in transactions with Love146 — by donating or purchasing materials — are asked to provide additional information including, as necessary, the personal and financial information required to process those transactions.
Our donation form also allows for a comment to be made with your donation; these comments are publicly viewable with your name associated with the comment, and we may use them in our communications. We reserve the right to moderate these comments at our sole discretion.
In all cases, Love146 collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Love146.
We respect your email address
If you have provided your email address to receive Love146 news and updates, know that we will not sell, distribute, or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law. You may opt out of receiving any email communications from us by following the unsubscribe link provided in any email we send.
Love146 also collects personal information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. We collect IP addresses in order to improve your experience on our website (such as limiting the number of times you’d see a pop-up, or to know your general location to give you more relevant content). We also collect IP addresses to understand how visitors move through our site and how often they return.
You can enable or disable location services when you use our website at any time by way of your device settings. We do not currently support Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals under the California Online Protection Act (CalOPPA). (Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked.) By using our website, you agree to the collection and use of the above information.
How we protect your data
We use a variety of security measures to protect your data. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to help prevent unauthorized access to and improper use of personally identifiable information.
We protect the security of credit card transactions using a number of measures, such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. These measures make it extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other appropriate security measures.
No website or electronic data can ever be completely secure, but we are always working to maintain up-to-date and appropriate security mechanisms.
How we use and share your data
If you provide Love146 with potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information when you visit our websites, we may use the information in our programs and activities. We may enter your information into one of our databases so we can contact you to obtain your input, provide information about our programs and events, request donations, or provide a more personalized online experience.
Love146 will only disclose potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information to those of its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that need to know that information in order to process it on Love146’s behalf, or to provide services available at our website. Those employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations are bound by strict confidentiality rules and are permitted to use the information only to support Love146 operations.
Love146 will not rent or sell potentially personally identifying or personally identifying information to anyone.
Other than to its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations, as described above, Love146 discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only in response to a legal obligation, such as a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, when Love146 is required in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Love146, third parties, or the public at large, to prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our website, to protect the personal safety of users of our website, and/or to protect against legal liability.
How long do we hold on to your data?
We will retain your personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to carry out the purposes for which it was collected, unless we have legal obligations to keep it longer or to delete it sooner.
What happens to your data if something happens to Love146
Your information, including personal information, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including personal information, to the United States and process it there.
Are you in Europe?
Even if you’re not European, Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation means all our users have certain data protection rights. Love146 will take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your personal information. If you wish to be informed about what personal information we hold about you and if you want it to be removed from our systems, please contact us as indicated below. In certain circumstances, you may have the following data protection rights:
- The right to access, update or delete the information we have on you.
- The right of rectification. You have the right to have your information rectified if that information is inaccurate or incomplete.
- The right to object. You have the right to object to our processing of your personal information.
- The right of restriction. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
- The right to data portability. You have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have about you in a structured, machine-readable, and commonly used format.
- The right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where Love146 relied on your consent to process your personal information.
These rights are not absolute and are subject to exceptions within the GDPR or member state law; and some expressly require a balancing of interests.
Please note that we will make reasonable efforts to verify your identity before responding to such requests. If you are in Europe, you have the right to complain to a Data Protection Authority about our collection and use of your personal information. For more information, please contact your local data protection authority in the European Economic Area (EEA).
