What began four years ago as an informal program in a small, agricultural, Cambodian province is now a full fledged project working with hundreds through education.
Love146’s Cambodian partner, Kone Kmeng, created Save the Children Project to ensure that children can be free from exploitation and become educated. Implementing these different activities throughout the community has resulted in amazing results including aiding the local economy. The project provides food security which helps to ensure that both adults and children will not have to cross borders for work and will therefore remain free from exploitation.
Save the Children Project has established sustainable practices in the community that include vegetable planting, animal husbandry projects, and community markets. Save the Children Project also continually aims to raise the standard of living so that parents send their children to school and support their children through higher levels of education. The project enables people in the community, including children, to remain in their local villages for work rather than cross the Thai border to seek work.
