Your generosity is changing the world for a young person like Kayla.
After years of experiencing poverty and suffering abuse, Kayla (name changed) was introduced to her trafficker by friends at age 13. She developed substance dependencies to survive exploitation and struggled with thoughts of wanting to die. Kayla was eventually referred to our Survivor Care. Some time later, she reflected,
“I felt trapped before, but with Love146 I finally felt free. I know I’m important and meant for great things.”
Kayla went on to testify against her trafficker, and due in part to her bravery, they were put behind bars.
She spent years working intensively with the Love146 Survivor Care team. In that time, we saw Kayla reclaim her childhood in many ways. She played tennis. She sang with friends and wrote poetry. She developed an inspiring passion for helping others in need.
We never close a case — and so Kayla knows she can always reach back out. Recently, we supported Kayla as she pursued a new career.
She shared, “I just finished two vocational courses and passed my assessment exams and I’m so happy. I want to say thanks to Love146 supporters because if it weren’t for your help, I couldn’t have achieved this dream.”
Thank you for giving generously to help survivors reach their dreams! Your donation means that kids like Kayla can get the care and love they need to heal from the traumatic abuse of the past and move toward a more hopeful future.
#GivingTuesday is in 1 week. It could be a great time to share more using our social media toolkit or invite someone to join you in supporting Love146. Right now, all gifts are being matched dollar-for-dollar.
