Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for being found guilty on five of six counts related to her partnership with Jeffrey Epstein in abusing and trafficking minors for sex. Prosecutors argued that Maxwell conspired from 1994 to 2004 to lure girls into trafficking and exploitation.
How are you supposed to feel when you see a guilty verdict like this? We in the Love146 offices know that bittersweet moment of cheering when rulings like this come in for our clients, knowing how much suffering has taken place, and how hard justice was fought for.
Epstein and Maxwell’s power to buy or blackmail their way out of consequences is deeply disturbing. It is notoriously difficult to receive justice in cases of sex trafficking and exploitation, and we are relieved to see this verdict – and see her behind bars.
We’re here fighting and cheering for more justice like this. It shouldn’t take years of complaints, blind eyes, and investigative journalism for justice to come. Traffickers should be more afraid than they are, but it takes justice like this. We are grateful for the bravery and perseverance of survivors, journalists, law enforcement, lawyers, judges, and jury.
