Last week Dr. Velazco, her staff and the girls traveled to a southern province for a holiday. For many of the girls this was their first time on a boat. While there, the girls who had family in the area were able to spend time reconnecting. Others were able to visit the residential home where they were living before coming to the Round Home and others simply enjoyed the vacation. Dr. Velazco shares with us quotes from the girls who shared with their previous residential facility about their new life at the Round Home:
“Amanda: We are happy in Love146 because they provide all our needs, we go places; we also go to school.”
“Remy: The first thing that I learned in Love146 is to follow the rules of Love146. You all know that when I was here I never followed rules…In Love146 I’ve learned to wake up early in the morning and they help us to make our dreams come true.”
“Kate: I am very thankful for this visitation because I saw my old self in the children [here]. We are thankful that here in Love146 we learned how to dress well with dignity and gained the respect of other people. We also wear uniform…We are provided well with food and education. We can go to other places. We also have family visits. We are very thankful for all of these things.”
