Not too long ago, a 1-year-old baby came into our care after being trafficked to a foreigner to be abused for online audiences of pedophiles.

It is a disturbing image of what might have happened, which will haunt me for a long time. I wish I didn’t have to tell you something so graphic. But the world has to know the extent of the horrors perpetrated against children. The physical realities of the children in our care confront me constantly. And the disgust and anger spark again and again. To survive the psychological anguish, I need to remember that this is why we persevere to prevent traffickers from continuing with this horrific abuse. This is why we continue to struggle against the odds. It is a herculean task.
