“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside…”
–Anne Frank
When children are liberated, one of the first things they need is a safe place to go. The Round Home was designed so that every aspect, every corner, every nook and cranny reinforces trust, safety and protection.
But we don’t limit this environment of refuge to the physical home itself. Every piece of the Round Home property — the volleyball courts, the tree house, and frequently the garden — help the children to trust that this a sanctuary.
Last month, Love146 Director of Asia Aftercare Dr. Gundelina Velazco expressed that the garden had become especially therapeutic to everyone in the Round Home.
Growing and tending to the different crops behind the Round Home has raised everyone’s spirits. The children and staff tend the garden together. One of the children in our care even said that working with their hands helps to make them feel happy whenever they feel blue:
“We help in watering the plants and the mushrooms in the garden and in sweeping the lawn and we feel wonderful whenever we do these things because they help us in healing our sad and painful experiences in the past, and we are able to help one another.”
Consider giving monthly to our work and help make every square inch of our Round Home — not just the physical building — a place of growth and healing.
Thank you.
