When we see a child fighting the aftermath of trafficking, all we want is to never see a child hurt by someone like that again. But what does it take to bring down a trafficker? It takes a powerful hero who will topple obstacles and stare down monsters: it takes a child. We mean that moment when a little one makes the decision to climb onto the witness stand and tell a terrible truth that holds the power to tear a trafficker’s world apart. It takes unspeakable bravery. It often takes long years, expert counseling, mock court practice sessions, witness protection enrollment, and an entourage of committed supporters and allies, like you.
The process of justice is long and grueling. Our children and their families have been threatened. They’ve been offered bribes to back down. We’ve seen courtrooms filled with the trafficker’s supporters intent on intimidating a child. We’ve had armed guards escort our children to court for protection.
The word “perseverance” could have no more piercing relevance to the fight against trafficking as it does in these children’s stories.
Our Round Home in the Philippines provides holistic care for girls recovering from trafficking, and right now many of them have open court cases against their traffickers.
Your support allows us to continue providing holistic care and journeying alongside these courageous children who are choosing to play a critical role in ending trafficking.
It will take $250,000 by June 30th to ensure the Round Home is fully funded. To meet this goal, we only need 1000 people to provide $250.
