“You’re like a second mom to me. You came into my life at the right moment. I’ve been waiting for just one woman to help me out in a positive way, and I finally feel ready for it.”
— Brianna, a girl in our U.S. Survivor Care program
The first time Brianna met with our US Survivor Care staff, she learned there were words for what adults were doing to her: sex trafficking. At the time, she shared, “I’ve heard of pimps and I knew to be scared of them – but I didn’t realize that the person I thought was protecting me was actually my pimp.”
This wasn’t overseas. This was right here, in the United States. We decided to create our U.S. Survivor Care program three years ago to help youth like Brianna, and since then we have served more than 200 children affected by this horrific crime. Brianna was able to find adults she could trust – who knew how to really help her.
She said, “I’m so glad a program like this is here for me and other kids who have gone through what I went through. You’ve helped me more than any other worker I’ve had in all my life. You listened when it felt like no one really heard me. The first lady who came out made me feel like I wasn’t alone after other people made it seem like I was a bad kid. You have showed and taught me that I’m deserving of much more. I found my self-worth thanks to you.”
Your generosity ensures survivors of child sex trafficking, like Brianna, received the specialized care they deserve.
