Trafficking and sexual assault don’t just happen to women and girls. It happens to boys — and we don’t identify it, or even talk about it, as much as we should. It’s really hard for boys because we as society don’t allow them to come forward and say that they were sexually assaulted. Currently, of the children in Love146’s survivor care for sex trafficked youth, 12% are boys.

STATE DEPARTMENT INITIATIVE BENEFITS LOVE146 PHILIPPINES
Many of the children in our care in the Philippines have been victimized by cyber-traffickers — a huge problem in the Philippines. We’re happy to report that the US State Department and the government of the Philippines are providing funding to groups on the ground fighting trafficking, through a new U.S.-Philippines Child Protection Compact Partnership. The boys and girls in our safe homes are now partially supported through funding made available through a sub-grant from the Salvation Army, which received funding along with the International Justice Mission, World Vision, and World Hope International. Not only will this grant help facilitate a new level of collaborative work between these great partners, it’s also an important recognition of the work we are doing caring for children.
