Make sure the National Human Trafficking Hotline is in your phone right now! Learn the signs of human trafficking and if you ever suspect trafficking, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-3737-888
You can text the hotline at 233733.
It’s also helpful to know that the hotline website has a national referral directory. If you ever need to search for providers who can help, you can use this to filter by need, location, demographics, and more.
2. Talk about online safety
Ask children to explain their favorite apps and genuinely listen. Be ready to consider how someone sketchy could use the app, and ask about how they can stay safe. 3. Bust myths about trafficking
Trafficking is an intense issue, and that’s brought about some misinformation and myths. For example, trafficking isn’t mostly perpetrated by “elites.” Child trafficking disproportionately impacts children of color. Trafficking affects children of all genders. Kidnapping by strangers isn’t a common way children are trafficked. And a “rescue” isn’t the only or best way to freedom. 5. Bookmark the Cyber Tipline
Never go looking for problematic content, but if at anytime you do see something sketchy online that may involve an exploited child or a predator, report it. You can bookmark the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline. Here’s the website.
6. See if your employer matches

7. Host a Facebook fundraiser

8. Bring prevention education to your community
Not a Number is an interactive child trafficking and exploitation prevention curriculum designed to provide youth with information and skills in a manner that inspires them to make safe choices. Youth learn to identify and utilize healthy support systems that may decrease their vulnerabilities. If you’re a professional who works with youth, explore getting certified. Or if not, introduce Not a Number to schools, child welfare and juvenile justice agencies, as well as other youth-serving organizations in your community and invite them to get licensed.
