Love146 Director of Asia Prevention, Glenn Miles PhD continues to be committed to equipping those working with children at risk with the skills needed to better serve them. The Celebrating Children training is one tool that Glenn has invested in for many years. Below is an excerpt from his recent update about his work with the training:
“I helped to set up the Celebrating Children course about 8 years ago in Cambodia and they now have over 350 gradutaes from the program which aims to equip basic level workers who work with ‘children at risk’. Over 60% of graduates in the past 3 years say they would like to do further training to enhance their skills. I have been working with the EFC Children’s Commission to help to develop a curriculum for the second level course which will be called a Holistic Child Development Diploma. Like the CC course it will be held for 2 days a month but this time for 2 years instead of one and go into more depth. Students will have an assigned mentor and they will have 7 assignments as well as a major project in either research, leadership or advocacy. The plan is that the course will start in October 2010 with 30 students.”
