CT Post: Why are people still surprised that youth are trafficked here in CT?

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This year, it is also the 10th anniversary of Love146’s Connecticut Survivor Care Program.

Love146 was founded in 2002 impacting tens of thousands of children globally through survivor care and prevention programs. And since 2014, Love146 has provided services to over 850 youth right here throughout the state of Connecticut. Yes, human trafficking happens here. Our Survivor Care program in Connecticut started with only a single staff member 10 years ago and is now a program with more than 20 staff, 18 of whom provide direct services to children and youth.

Think human trafficking doesn’t happen in your community? We have served children and youth in every county in Connecticut. So why, after 10 years, are people still surprised to hear that Love146 exists? That youth are trafficked right here in Connecticut?
