What’s the number one most strategic thing you can do to help Love146 fight child trafficking and exploitation? It’s an important question, and there are lots of answers. You can become aware, and obviously you’re already doing that. You can mentor a child, you can start an internship, or you can change your lifestyle—and all of those are so important.
But at this very moment, there are already experts in the field working with vulnerable and trafficked youth. These social workers, doctors, caregivers, and professionals are really well-equipped to care for children day in and day out.
So back to the question:
What’s the most strategic thing you can do for Love146?
You might be surprised by that answer, but whether it’s $5 or $50, committing month after month is probably the most important thing you could do for our work.
Why is that? Well, at Love146 we really do two things: fight trafficking and find resources to fight trafficking. On average, it costs a charity nearly five times as much in resources to get a single donation from someone as it does to get the same amount from a monthly donor. In short, by giving monthly, even if it’s a small amount, what we are able to do is spend more of those resources helping children.
I can tell you as the Executive Programs Director that a stable budget allows us to create solutions for children faster because we’re working with resources that are planned on, not ones that are hoped for.
In cold, hard numbers, monthly gifts are just plain efficient.
We’re not in the quick-fix business. Your monthly gift allows us to take a long-haul approach: spending more showing up day after day for children and spending less on fundraising.
By giving monthly, you’re saying, “I trust you to help fix this problem—to journey alongside children as they recover and stay safe from exploitation.” And the more people who trust us like that, the more we can do exactly that.
